I’ve taught IGCSE Chemistry for eight years and currently tutor students alongside my work in science education. I particularly enjoy quantitative chemistry, as it’s often the point where students realise the subject is more logical than it first appears. We spend time working through calculations carefully before moving to exam questions. I also keep a note of recurring errors so we know exactly what needs another look.

Hi! I came into tutoring through chemical engineering and have been working with IGCSE Chemistry students for around five years. I’m happiest teaching energetics, rates and equilibrium because there’s plenty to connect to things happening outside a textbook. I tend to draw diagrams as I explain and ask students to talk me through their reasoning. Near exams, we switch gears and do much more timed question practice.

Before becoming a tutor, I worked in a laboratory where careful measurements and accurate recording were part of everyday life. I’ve now taught IGCSE Chemistry privately for seven years. Practical chemistry is a particular interest of mine, including separation methods, titrations and experimental errors. My lessons are quite structured, with regular short questions to check understanding before we tackle longer exam problems.

My background is in pharmaceutical science, and I started tutoring Chemistry while completing postgraduate study. Six years on, I mainly work with IGCSE students. Organic chemistry is probably my favourite section, especially when students begin spotting patterns between different reactions. I’m fairly informal in lessons and encourage questions as we go, but I’m particular about equations, chemical terminology and showing working properly.

Atomic structure, bonding and properties of materials are topics I particularly enjoy. Rather than memorising isolated facts, my students practise explaining why substances behave as they do. We also use mark schemes regularly because a scientifically correct idea still needs to be expressed precisely in an exam.

I’m a qualified Chemistry teacher with more than a decade of classroom experience and several years of one-to-one IGCSE tuition. Much of my tutoring is with students who understand lessons at school but find exam papers unpredictable. I break questions down by command word and mark allocation, then compare answers against the marking points. Electrolysis is a regular stumbling block, so I’ve developed several simple ways of explaining it.
